3 Day Safari from Zanzibar: Nyerere – Southern Wilderness

Your journey begins with a morning flight from Zanzibar to southern Tanzania. After landing, you are met at the airstrip, and during the short transfer into Nyerere National Park the shift is immediate — more space, more quiet, and noticeably fewer vehicles than in the north.

 In the afternoon, you gain first impressions of this vast ecosystem of floodplains, miombo woodland, and waterways. Initial game viewing often follows the Rufiji River, a natural gathering point for wildlife.

 Hippos rest in the shallows, crocodiles line the banks, elephants approach to drink, and birdlife fills the air with movement and sound. With luck, you may even encounter rare African wild dogs before the day settles into the calm light of evening
