This 2-day mid-range safari from Zanzibar flies you from the island’s beaches to two of northern Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife destinations: Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater.
In just two days you’ll experience two distinct safari landscapes while enjoying comfortable lodge stays and expertly guided game drives.
Two parks, two highlights – what to expect:
Tarangire National Park – famous for its large elephant herds, towering baobab trees, and wildlife-rich game drives along the Tarangire River.
Ngorongoro Crater – breathtaking views from the crater rim and one of Africa’s highest concentrations of wildlife, with the chance to see the Big Five in a single day. Rhinos are possible, though sightings remain rare.
The route is intentionally compact, combining short travel distances with maximum time on safari. With private guiding, scenic landscapes, and carefully selected mid-range lodges, this itinerary offers a comfortable way to experience Tanzania’s most celebrated wildlife areas in just two days.

Here is how the days run. We can adjust the route around your dates and the pace you want.
1 Day 1 Zanzibar to Tarangire National Park Kankari Lodge / Lunch, Dinner
We will pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transfer you to Zanzibar Airport for your flight to Arusha Airport. Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by your professional safari guide who will give you a short briefing about the adventure ahead.
After the briefing, you will begin a scenic 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park.
Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds, giant baobab trees, and beautiful savannah landscapes. During your game drive, you can expect to see animals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, antelopes, and possibly lions. The park is also home to many bird species, making it a wonderful place for wildlife viewing.
You will enjoy an exciting game drive inside the park, exploring the area and observing animals in their natural habitat.
Later in the evening, you will drive to lodge, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night while relaxing after your first safari day.

2 Day 2 Exploring the Ngorongoro Crater and Returning to Zanzibar None — end of tour / Breakfast, Lunch
Following an early breakfast at Kankari Lodge, you will depart for Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable morning of wildlife viewing.
Often referred to as one of Africa’s natural wonders, the crater is home to an extraordinary concentration of wildlife. Here you may encounter lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, and if you are very lucky, the rare black rhino, one of the most sought-after sightings on a safari.
Around midday, you will enjoy a picnic lunch at the crater floor, often near the famous hippo pool, where you can relax and take in the beautiful surroundings.
After lunch, you will continue with a short final game drive, giving you time to capture your last wildlife photographs and enjoy the breathtaking scenery before ascending the crater.
Later, you will be transferred back to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar, marking the end of your memorable safari adventure.
