2 Unforgetable Days in Nyerere National Park
This 2-day safari from Zanzibar takes you from the island’s beaches into the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park, formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve. Located in southern Tanzania, this enormous protected area offers a quieter, more remote safari atmosphere compared to the northern parks.
In just two days, you’ll explore one remarkable ecosystem while enjoying comfortable lodge stays and expertly guided safari activities.
Two days, one vast wilderness – what to expect:
Nyerere National Park – expansive floodplains and miombo woodlands where wildlife moves freely across wide landscapes, often with noticeably fewer vehicles than in the northern parks.
Rufiji River – the park’s defining feature and the setting for a scenic boat safari, offering close encounters with hippos, crocodiles, and wildlife gathering along the riverbanks.
Wildlife highlights – elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, and—with a bit of luck—leopards or even the rare African wild dog.

1 Day 1 Day 1: Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park Lunch, Dinner, Drinking water, soft drinks, beer & wine
Depending on where you’ll be staying in Zanzibar, a driver will come to pick you up at 5:00 am and transfer you to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your scheduled flight to Nyerere National Park.
Upon arrival at Nyerere Airstrip at around 9:15 am, your professional safari guide will warmly welcome you and brief you about the adventure ahead.
You will then begin your exciting game drive through the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park, one of Africa’s largest protected areas. The park is famous for its scenic landscapes, the mighty Rufiji River, and abundant wildlife including elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles.
During the day, you will stop for a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing with your afternoon game drive as you explore this remarkable ecosystem.
In the late afternoon, you will head to lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After an early breakfast at the camp, you will depart for your final morning game drive in Nyerere National Park, offering another opportunity to spot wildlife as animals are most active during the early hours of the day.
You may encounter elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and many other species that inhabit this extraordinary wilderness.
After the game drive, you will return to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Zanzibar, marking the end of your short but unforgettable safari adventure.
