Overview
About This Safari
This 1-Day Nyerere National Park Safari from Zanzibar offers a convenient way to experience Tanzania's southern wilderness without an overnight stay. Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park, meet your private safari guide and spend the day exploring the park by 4×4 game vehicle and, where flight and activity schedules allow, by boat on the Rufiji River before returning to Zanzibar.
A day safari from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park is ideal if you’re looking for space, quiet, and a truly wild feel. Nyerere is part of the former Selous ecosystem and ranks among Africa’s largest protected wilderness areas.
Why Nyerere?
Landscape: rivers, woodlands, and open plains — noticeably wilder and more expansive
Wildlife highlights: elephants, lions, giraffes — and with some luck African wild dogs
Safari feel: often fewer vehicles than in the north — more room for immersive nature moments
This day tour is designed so you spend maximum time inside the park and enjoy an intense safari experience in a short time — no overnight stay and no detours.
Best for: safari lovers, off-the-beaten-path travelers, and a more authentic wilderness feel
