Safari from Zanzibar Explained
How safaris from Zanzibar really work — flights, parks and realistic route options.

A safari from Zanzibar is practical because scheduled and charter flights connect the island with several mainland parks. The best choice depends on available time. A one-day Mikumi trip offers a quick wildlife experience, while two or more days create a calmer pace and better morning and evening game-drive opportunities.
Northern Circuit trips to Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti usually need multiple days. Flying into Arusha or directly to an airstrip saves road time, but flight schedules, luggage limits and weather must be considered. Southern destinations such as Nyerere and Mikumi are especially convenient from Zanzibar.
A day safari begins very early and returns in the evening. It is efficient but intensive, and wildlife is never guaranteed. Overnight safaris add sunset and early-morning viewing, a proper lodge or camp stay and more flexibility if conditions change.
Your quoted price should state flights, transfers, park fees, guide, vehicle, meals and accommodation. Pack light layers, closed shoes, sun protection and essential medication in a soft bag that meets domestic-flight limits.
Goldfinch coordinates island pickup, airport assistance, safari operations and return transfers as one itinerary. Travellers with enough time should consider at least two nights on safari, while a well-organised day trip suits a short beach holiday.
